Découvrez les trésors cachés de la Bourgogne à partir de votre propre château tout près de la cité ducale de Nevers, idéalement situé dans la vallée de la Loire, entre les vignobles de Pouilly sur Loire et Sancerre et le circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours : le Château du Four de Vaux.

Cet élégant bâtiment est censé avoir été construit au début du 19ème siècle, tandis que les tours ont été ajoutées plus tard, en 1840, par le quelque peu excentrique Baron Denis Durosier de Mangeux Vepre, apparemment pour dissimuler ses nombreuses maîtresses aux nouvelles arrivantes ! L'intérieur a été entièrement rénové tout en préservant les parquets, boiseries et complexes escaliers de pierre en colimaçon d'une époque révolue. Le château dispose de 5 suites luxueuses décorées individuellement qui offrent toutes une vue magnifique sur le parc.

Le château est situé sur un domaine de 5 hectares doté de nombreux arbres centenaires, d'un étang ainsi que d'une chapelle du 17ème siècle. La campagne bourguignonne est magnifique et, grâce à nos voisins les oiseaux et les collines ondoyantes, le retour à la nature se combine à la vie de château.

Discover the hidden wonders of Burgundy whilst based at your exclusive château overlooking the ducal city of Nevers. Ideally situated in the Loire valley between the vineyards of Pouilly sur Loire, Sancerre and the Magny-Cours racing circuit lies the fairy tale-like Chateau du Four de Vaux mentioned in the famous Hornblower novels by C.S Forester.

The elegant sandstone building is believed to have been constructed in the early 19th century, while the towers were added later in 1840 by the slightly eccentric Baron Denis Durosier de Mangeux de Vepre apparently to conceal his many mistresses from newer arrivals! The interior has been completely renovated while preserving the parquet floors, fine woodwork, spiral staircase and intricate stonework of a past era. The chateau offers individually decorated, luxurious suites which all offer beautiful views overlooking the grounds.

The castle is located on a 5 hectare estate featuring numerous century old trees, an ornamental pond as well as a 17th century chapel. The spectacular Burgundy countryside is vividly apparent, as the estate borders an agricultural zone to the west, where various bird calls and rolling valleys succeed in taking one back to nature.
